Although the clan is ancient

The Clan Donnachaidh Society (pronounced "Donna-khee" [clear your throat for the kh sound, as in Loch or Ach - webmaster]) is relatively modern. Clan Donnachaidh Society was formed in 1893 in Scotland to maintain and renew the family bond among a clan now scattered across the globe. Its aims are benevolent, cultural and social. The headquarters is now located in Pitlochry, Perthshire, Scotland. The present chief is Alexander Gilbert Haldane Robertson of Struan.

It is said you are born into a Highland clan by virtue of your name or your ancestry. You join a clan society to support your clan and to join others who share your common bond of kinship, and to help perserve this high heritage. The Carolinas Branch of the clan was formed in 2002 when we separated from Donnachaidh of the South. We are an organization dedicated to bringing together the descendants of our noble and ancient family and preserving our Scottish heritage, history, genealogy and culture. We promote social activities with our members and relationship with our fellow Scots throughout the Carolinas and throughout the world.

Any person may join, whether of Scottish ancestry or not, who agrees to support the advancement of the Scottish and Celtic heritage which is promoted by the Family of Clan Donnachaidh. We attract people from GA, SC, NC, VA, TN & KY because we have fun!

Our Activities

We set up our clan tents, one for business and one for food and fun, at various Highland games and gatherings of Scottish clans in North Carolina and South Carolina. We love to chat about our clan and all things Scottish so be sure to stop by and visit us at our tent when you attend any of the Highland games. Come join us. We are your family.
